Eurostar has reported a record 2018, pulling in almost £1 billion in ticket
sales. Passenger numbers rose 7%, to 11 million, with business travellers
the greatest increase, up 12%. The rail company launched a new service
between London and the Netherlands, a success hampered only by regulations
requiring inbound passengers to change trains in Brussels. CEO Mike Cooper
notes a “growing appetite among customers for international high-speed rail
travel and a sustainable alternative to the airlines”
